Maine's Biggest Mountain like you've
never seen it before. Five
years in the making,
this
100 minute film by Huey has won
numerous awards. It captures the spirit of Katahdin and the people who have
been drawn to Maine's "Great
Mountain" by bringing together the
recollections of its hikers,
climbers and benefactors,
the legendary stories, dances and
music of the Penobscot people, the writings of
Henry David Thoreau and the paintings
of Frederic Church and Marsden
Hartley. Includes footage
of the Katahdin 100 run of the
Penobscot people and Earl Shaffer's
historic climb up Katahdin on his
50th anniversary Appalachian Trail
thru hike. The soundtrack CD
features music composed by Tom Myron
and performed by the
Keepers of the Penobscot Drum.
Greg's notes.
"Huey
and I were classmates at Colby
College in Waterville, Maine. When I
ran into Huey at a class
reunion he told me about his Katahdin DVD and soundtrack CD and I
told him that I was the proprietor
of the SnowSource General Store. We knew instantly that
Huey's works were perfect products for
the store.
For over 25 years, Huey has been making films
about artists, youth, education, and
the environment. They have been
shown at film festivals in the US,
on PBS, and on television in Europe. Huey cross-country skis and snowshoes
throughout the backwoods of Maine". |
